Sheeba started clinical training as a junior doctor in 2009. During her early years of training, she developed a keen interest in diseases affecting the gut and liver and choose to specialise in gastroenterology.
For the last 3 years she has been working on liver disease research at the University of Birmingham.
Sheeba has worked on various national and international collaborative projects to facilitate studies in liver disease. She is part of the research team for the MERLIN trial that is investigating the role of novel advanced cell therapy product called mensenchymal stromal cells, in autoimmune liver disease.
The results of this trial will bring key insights into the efficacy of this novel approach in treating autoimmune liver disease (which currently lacks any curative therapies)
